Licensing

Two licensing models apply to MS switches. (1) Classic Meraki licences, bought per switch by model class and term (1, 3, 5, 7 or 10 years) and used in a co-termination organisation (all licences pooled to one shared expiry date). New Meraki organisations default to co-term; per-device licensing is no longer available to new customers and Meraki no longer accepts conversions to it, so it applies only to existing per-device organisations. MS130 compact models (8, 8P, 8P-I, 8X, 12X) and the MS130R-8P share LIC-MS130-CMPT-nY (Enterprise) / LIC-MS130-CMPTA-nY (Advanced); MS130 24-port models use LIC-MS130-24-nY / LIC-MS130-24A-nY; MS130 48-port use LIC-MS130-48-nY / LIC-MS130-48A-nY; MS150 24-port use LIC-MS150-24-nY / LIC-MS150-24A-nY; MS150 48-port use LIC-MS150-48-nY / LIC-MS150-48A-nY. Enterprise comes in 1/3/5/7/10 years for all; Advanced is 1/3/5 years only for MS130 and MS130R, and 1/3/5/7/10 years for MS150. (2) Cisco Networking Subscription (ordered under MERAKI-SUB, CISCO-NETWORK-SUB or partner-branded CISCO-NETWORK-PSUB, where the SKU gets a P prefix, e.g. PLIC-MS-100-M-E). Subscription SKUs are hardware-agnostic by size class. Meraki's Subscription Licensing page gives terms of 12 to 84 months with customer-set start and end dates (Cisco's family data sheet still says 1 to 10 years), so the term is confirmed at quote: MS100 Small LIC-MS-100-S-E/-A (MS130 8/12-port incl. MS130-8P-I, and MS130R), MS100 Medium LIC-MS-100-M-E/-A (MS130 24-port, all MS150 24-port), MS100 Large LIC-MS-100-L-E/-A (MS130 48-port, all MS150 48-port). Every switch needs a valid licence; a co-term organisation that falls out of compliance gets a 30-day grace period, and subscription organisations get Amber Mode, which keeps traffic passing.
